Russia Plans Third Russia–Africa Summit to Boost Relations

(MENAFN) Russia will host the third Russia–Africa Summit later this year, according to Presidential Adviser Anton Kobyakov, following a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin approving the event in Moscow this autumn.

Kobyakov said the summit and related events aim to strengthen Russia’s overall cooperation with African nations and to explore new avenues of interaction both bilaterally and in multilateral settings. The program will reportedly include a detailed review of all aspects of Russia–Africa collaboration and outline long-term priorities across politics, security, the economy, science and technology, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

He added that the meetings are designed to maintain strategic engagement with African partners, emphasizing principles of mutual respect, balanced consideration of interests, and tangible benefits for citizens on both sides.

The first Russia–Africa Summit was held in Sochi in October 2019, co-chaired by Putin and the then-chair of the African Union, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, bringing together leaders from numerous African countries to discuss trade, investment, and political cooperation. The second summit took place in St. Petersburg in July 2023, hosted by Putin and Comoros President Azali Assoumani, then chair of the African Union, focusing on economic partnerships, energy collaboration, and food security.
