Chargé d'Affaires of the Mission of China to the African Union Zhang Wei and H.E. Amb. Bankole, Commissioner for PAPS of the AUC Sign Handover Certificate of China's De-mining Assistance to the AU
On August 21, Mr. Zhang Wei, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Mission to the African Union , and H.E. Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the AU Commission, signed handover certificate of China’s de-mining assistance to the AU, in the presence of Senior Colonel Guo Baojian, Defense Adviser,and Patience Chiradza, Director of Governance and Conflict Prevention.

Mr. Zhang pointed out that China firmly supports Africa in strengthening its capacity building for peace and security,and provides de-mining assistance to the AU for two consecutive years. China is willing to work with the AU to create a safer and more stable development environment for Africa to achieve its “2063 Agenda” goals.
Commissioner Bankole highly appreciated China’s “Action for a Mine-free Africa” program and expressed gratitude on behalf of H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, AUC Chairperson. He also reiterated the AU’s readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with China in relevant fields.
